Bristol Airport car parking amongst the UK's most expensive

22.02.10

Passengers parking at Bristol Airport for a weekend pay some of the highest prices in the country. Pre-booking a 3 day stay in its long-stay car park costs £33, second only to Luton Airport (£38) in a league table of major UK airports. At Gatwick it would cost £18, £29 at Heathrow, £23 at Birmingham and £29 at Liverpool.

If travellers choose to pay on the day, they pay even more than if they pre-book - an additional £11 - at Bristol Airport. This is the 5th highest of 13 major UK airports, according to travelsupermarket. For 15-day stays in the long-stay car park, Bristol compares more favourably at £112 on the day, the 9th highest. The re-booked cost of £65 is middle-of-the table, in 7th.

The reason for the high cost of Bristol Airport parking appears to be the lack of alternatives. The local council has blocked recent attempts by off airport car park operators to set up in competition to official car parks, allowing the airport a virtual monopoly.
