A new Animal Reception Centre at Bristol Airport will open next Wednesday (July 1). It will enable dog and cat owners to fly their pets in to and out of the airport.
Animals with a Pet Passport are allowed to enter the UK without going through the normal 6 months quarantine. However, facilities are required at the airport to allow checks on pets before and after the flight.
Next week Bristol will become the fourth airport in the UK with these facilities (the others are Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester). A spokesman said that the move will reduce road journeys for dog and cat owners looking to transport them overseas.
