A multi-million-pound redevelopment of the terminal at Cardiff Airport has been approved. Work on the project to improve the appearance of the airport will commence later this year with approval for the scheme by Vale of Glamorgan councillors coming as plans for a dedicated bus service for the airport was confirmed.
The £5m terminal enhancement work will see arrivals and departures linked into one large space, with new food and retail outlets, plus the terminal will get a 'fresh contemporary design' upgrade. The first floor of the building will become ‘airside’ as the security control point to access the departures lounge is moved on to the first floor. The approach area in front of the terminal will also be redesigned.
Meanwhile, Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones has approved the specification for a dedicated airport express bus service. The brand new limited-stop link will run between Cardiff Airport and the city centre.
