Edinburgh Airport will get Scotland's first direct flights to Istanbul this summer. The flights by Turkish Airlines will run 4 times per week from July 16. In addition to direct links to Istanbul, they open up connections to a range of onward destinations including Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Bangkok, Johannesburg, Shanghai and Delhi.
A spokesman for Edinburgh Airport described the flights as a ‘significant development’. Managing director Jim O'Sullivan added: ‘European traffic has driven much of our growthrecently, and Istanbul is a destination we have been working hard to get. It is doubly exciting because of the onward connections it offers.'
