Steel-coated bollards are being installed at Edinburgh Airport as a part of a big upgrade of its forecourt area in front of the terminal. Work on the security measures will see a complete overhaul of the old forecourt, with the scheme started on Monday and to be completed by June, before the hectic summer season.
The work will also see the bus lane in front of the airport resurfaced. While a through lane will stay open, this means that no traffic will be stop off in front of its terminal. All public bus services are going to be temporarily moved to the coach park next to the main terminal, which is likely to affect off airport parking firms. However, this coach park will be moved during the course of the work. The taxi drop-off area has previously been moved to a brand new permanent position.
The £3m scheme is a part of a wider programme of investment and improvement at Edinburgh Airport, that will see a new security hall and upgraded departure lounge open later this year. Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport's managing director, said: 'I want to thank travellers in advance for their patience whilst we upgrade this important part of our airport.’
