Airlines have been asked not to refuel their planes at BAA's three Scottish airports and instead do so outside Scotland ahead of an oil plant strike due to start this weekend. BAA made the advisory call to airlines operating at its airports - Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airport - yesterday.
staff at Grangemouth are to strike from Sunday over plans to end the final salary pension scheme for new recruits. The company has begun shutting down the refinery, which processes up to 210,000 barrels of oil a day. A BAA spokesman said the airports operator had decided to issue the advisory notice as a precaution.
