ERA and ACI to work together to campaign on airport congestion

The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is to work with the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe to ask governments and the EU to address the issue of airport congestion. The move brings together two of Europe’s leading aviation associations.
At a meeting this week the ERA and ACI Europe agreed that cooperation is needed to lobby European regulators and EU member states to take action against the airport congestion problem, which they say is severely threatening the future of European aviation.
ERA Director General Mike Ambrose said: ‘Much attention has been focused on relieving congestion in the skies, but we must not forget that without equivalent capacity on the ground, any progress we make in the air is severely compromised, if not wasted.’
ACI Europe Director General Olivier Jankovec added: ‘The EU can and must do more to put aviation in a condition to secure its potential to grow. This involves a policy that reconciles aviation growth with ambitious environmental objectives.’
