Gatwick monorail to reopen ahead of schedule
20.02.10
The Gatwick monorail, which transfers passengers between the airport's north and south terminals, is to reopen ahead of schedule after a major refurbishment. Its new carriages have recently been lifted onto the rail line, which had already been renewed. The whole project is now expected to be completed a month ahead of schedule, in July.
The monorail has been closed since last September to allow the carriages, tracks and stations to be replaced, repaired or renewed. Testing of the updated service will take place over the next three months ahead of the planned opening in time for the busy summer peak.
