Thomsonfly cabin crew go nuts

When a passenger with a severe nut allergy told cabin crew of his condition on a flight to Gatwick last weekend, they went to extraordinary lengths to ensure his safety, the Telegraph reports. A tannoy announcement warned other passengers not to eat any nuts or even open a cereal bar for fear of triggering an anaphylactic reaction. But the crew ruined all their good work during the in-flight meal, when they handed out puddings topped with muesli and a label that said: ‘May contain nuts.’
The newspaper reports that, when travellers boarded the plane in Geneva last Saturday for their journey back to Gatwick Airport, cabin staff from Thomsonfly announced: ‘One passenger has a very severe nut allergy. Could no one either eat nuts or even open a packet of nuts while on board.’
A passenger on the flight, Marcus Primhak, told the Telegraph: ‘We were flying back from a skiing holiday and were really hungry. They asked us not to eat any nuts. We had some cereal bars but put them away too. But when they served us the meal we had a look at the yoghurt and saw it had muesli on top and the label said it contained nuts.’
A spokesman for Thomsonfly apologised for upsetting passengers, and said the yoghurt had been incorrectly labelled. He said that the yoghurt contained muesli but no nuts.
