Gatwick noise action plan launched
21.06.09
Gatwick has launched a 16-week public consultation on its draft noise action plan. Andy Flower, the airport's managing director, said: ‘We know noise is a concern for local residents. We are committed to managing our impact on those surrounding the airport, who are most affected by our operation.'
‘Aviation brings many economic and social benefits, but this must be balanced against its impact on the environment. This plan demonstrates our commitment to achieving our aim to be a responsible neighbour.’
The 5 year plan will be submitted to the Department for Transport and is required to comply with European regulations. The final plan, which will take into consideration comments made during the consultation, will be submitted later this year. For more information, or to comment, visit www.gatwickairport.com/noise.
