The brother of the terrorist who died after an attempted suicide car bomb attack on Glasgow Airport last summer has been deported. Sabeel Ahmed, 26, from Bangalore, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey last month to withholding information about the attack. He admitted not disclosing to police an e-mail which his brother wrote about plans for the attack.
Mr Ahmed had only opened the e-mail, in which his brother asked him to keep the information secret for as long as possible, after the incident had taken place. The NHS doctor was given an 18-month prison sentence, but was freed for deportation because of time he had served on remand.
Kafeel Ahmed drove a burning Cherokee Jeep into the terminal at Glasgow Airport on June 30 last year. He was arrested at the scene after being hosed down by an off-duty police officer, but had suffered 90% burns. He died in Glasgow Royal Infirmary on August 2.
According to reports in India, Sabeel Ahmed returned home yesterday after arriving in the southern city of Bangalore on a flight from London.
