Thunderstorms and high winds caused the cancellation of over 80 flights in and out of Heathrow Airport yesterday. The cancellations were for flights between 16:00 - 19:00, with the timetable back to normal by 21:30 and today's schedule is unaffected.
Wind gusts at the airport reached 41 mph (66 kph) and the area saw consistent lightning strikes yesterday afternoon. An airport spokesman said: ‘Localised thunderstorms and high winds saw airlines cancel some a small number of flights.'
