BA aims to finally seal its merger agreement with Spanish airline Iberia by the end of this month, and said a possible strike by its cabin crew had not hit forward bookings, Reuters reports.
BA's group treasurer George Stinnes advised reporters on a conference call: 'We're aiming to sign the merger agreement with Iberia by the end of the first quarter of 2010, that's the plan.' Regarding the strike he added: 'It (the potential strike) has made no real difference to March bookings ... bookings for March are strong and demonstrate a gradual improvement year-on-year.'
Reports over the weekend had suggested that BA sales were down by as much as a third since the strike vote was announced, with business travellers in particular switching to other airlines.
