BMI will launch a brand new 4 flights a day service between Heathrow and Berlin on 28 March, when it starts its summer schedule and on the same day as its new Heathrow - Vienna service takes off. The new routes tie the UK carrier more strongly to the networks of its parent airline Lufthansa and its sister subsidiary Austrian Airlines.
The Berlin service will operate with both economy and business class cabins. In business passengers will be seated in a 2-2 configuration, with the middle seat kept free. On-board service will be 'hot food with a British twist' and a full bar. Business passengers will have access to the airline's Great British Lounge at Heathrow airport, which it recently renamed to prevent confusion with the No 1 pay-as-you-go airport lounges in Gatwick and Stansted.
Economy passengers will get a free 20kg baggage allowance plus complimentary meals including a hot breakfast and full bar service all through the day. Return fare flights are from £99 return including taxes.
