BA cabin crew backed more talks with management and did not announce strike dates at a mass meeting this week. Originally they had been expected to name strike dates at the meeting, but instead they called on Unite to negotiate a settlement with the airline in a dispute over pay, staff cuts and changes to working arrangements. There are also some press reports of division within the union and between staff - who want negotiation - and senior union officials who are said to want a strike.
Unite cabin crew members meeting on Thursday backed their negotiating team's attempts to resolve the dispute, the union said. The meeting backed the union negotiating team to continue their work to reach a settlement, and to propose strike dates for authorisation only if it proves impossible to reach such an agreement through negotiation.
