Despite celebrating carrying 2.5m passengers to and from Leeds Bradford Airport this week, Ryanair has said that it will not expand its operations at the hub due to high airport charges and aviation taxes. The budget airline celebrated the milestone this week; it operates daily flights to Dublin, with services to Alicante and Girona also operating from the hub.
Laszlo Tamas, Ryanair’s marketing manager UK & Ireland, said the budget airline would like to launch more flights at Leeds Bradford, but costs were too high. He said: ‘Demand for our 3 services is good and we are looking to increase the number of passengers we carry from 260,000 to around 300,000 this year. We would like to expand and offer new routes, but we cannot. Instead we are focusing on expanding in Spain and Italy.'
