Luton Airport have launched a car sharing scheme to help cut pollution and save passengers money on petrol and airport car park fees. The airport is the first in the UK to offer this service to its passengers and chose National Liftshare Day to unveil it.
The airport already operates a car share scheme for staff, in association with liftshare.com, and has extended this scheme to passengers. Those wishing to use the scheme have to register, and can then search for other travellers making the similar journeys to the airport.
Simon Earles, the airport’s manager of social responsibility, said: ‘Car share has proved popular with staff and the logical next step was to roll it out to passengers. We are committed to developing sustainable transport options.’
