The commercial director at Manchester Airport warned travellers in the north that they need to use long-haul flights from the airport or risk seeing them disappear. Andrew Harrison used the motto ‘use it or lose it’.
He told a conference of business leaders at the airport that 50% of people flying to Dubai from the north are travelling down to Heathrow to catch flights rather than using the scheduled flights from Manchester. He therefore clearly missed the point. Why are they doing this? Price, flexibility, flight times and company policy would be the main reasons. In order to resolve the issue, he needs to address these, rather than adopting a catch motto.
