A 5th appeal by campaign group Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE) over a Government decision to increase the cap on passenger numbers at Stansted was dismissed by the High Court yesterday.
SSE lodged the oral appeal in relation to a decision that increased its passenger cap by 10m passengers a year - from 25m to 35m - using its current single runway. Following the judgment the group said that it will consider whether to apply to the House of Lords to overturn the Government decision - a sixth appeal.
Earlier this week a spokesman Stansted Airport said that SSE had had 'more appeals than Blue Peter.' SSE said that the appeals were part of its strategy to frustrate the airport's expansion plans 'every step of the way'.
