Fatal crash has closed M11 near Stansted airport

A car driver has died after a collision with a lorry just south of Saffron Walden on the southbound M11. This has caused the motorway to be closed for around 18 miles between junction 10, the A505 for Duxford in Cambs, and junction 8, the A120 for Stansted Airport.

Police say that the motorway is likely to remain closed until the middle of the morning after the crash in the early hours. Diversions via the A505, A10 and A120 are in place but motorists are warned they cannot join the M11 at junction 9. Traffic tailbacks and delays are reported.
